This August, one of the most prestigious glossy magazines in the world chose Whitehall Farm in Kent as the location for its latest fashion shoot. Showcasing this season’s Autumn/Winter 2015 collections from the best luxury designer labels, it was when high-end style met rustic rawness.
The September 2015 issue of Hong Kong Tatler is now published and the fashion feature leaps off the page. It is absolutely striking.
Originally only seeking a barley field location, photographer Amar Daved then broadened the shoot out to eight further locations across the farm.
Amar was looking for locations which provided the colours and textures of rustic yellows and browns, to compliment and to bring out the best of the latest designer pieces, styled by Ozzy Shah, including Paul Smith, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Ralph Lauren, Chloe and Joseph.
The shoot locations on the farm included barley, wheat and grass fields, plus some farmyard locations including hay stacks, cattle yards, a trailer and a Landrover.
One of the old Landrovers was destined for this fashion shoot, more than any other. Its tweed-like interior upholstery was a perfect match for the cosy Joseph outfit (see below), modelled by Carmen.
The Tatler shoot is a great example of how varied and interesting a farm location can be for a photoshoot. A farm’s colours and textures vary across the seasons and across different parts of the farm. Farms offer both old rustic charm and new industrial masculinity. And are a true celebration of Britain’s great outdoors.
