You might think these cows were hired into a studio to shoot this film. No! The crew and cast of Elvie came to the farm to find the genuine article for milking cows.
Shot on location at Court Farm

Produced by Mother London.
How did Elvie manage to feature dairy cows?
Mother London had an idea for the launch of Elvie’s new product launch, its breast pump. Dairy cows were at the heart of the idea.
The producer’s first port of call was to seek to hire a studio in London, and then hire in the cows. Too many reasons, not least the financial and welfare cost, caused the team to re-think. Attention then turned to finding a farm and for the crew and cast to travel to the cows’ natural environment instead.
The brief came into Farm Locations and a dairy farm was recommended. Never been done before, 4 cows were asked to perform “on set” whilst 4 new mums danced around them.
Collaboration, flexibility and an experimental approach resulted in the director, farmer and cows finding a way to make it work. The welfare of the cows was always put first, and with a careful transition from their normal day’s routine to being filmed “on set”, the animals relaxed into their roles, and the day’s filming was a great success.
Court Farm is a super film-friendly farm location. All briefs are considered, and the welfare of the herd is never compromised.
