Rachel Brown, Photo Director of Harper’s Bazaar had been on the hunt for a while – for an extraordinary shoot location to help showcase the magazine’s feature on 50 years of Ralph Lauren. When sharing what farm locations can offer, the lavender idea stood out for her. Couple the vast fields of purple with a handsome grey stallion, and the new Ralph Lauren collection would be stunning.
The photoshoot day was a scorcher. In the searing heat of one of the hottest July days of 2018, the photoshoot crew spent their time mainly in the lavender fields, with cool refreshments based from the farmhouse kitchen. Louise Dryden, of Dessert Kitchen was the caterer and a variety of salads as well as her flagship puddings were on the menu.
Chico the stallion, from Tony Smart Stunts, was well trained to ensure the shots were delivered for Richard Phibbs, photographer.
Lorna, owner of Austin Farm, was on hand throughout the day, and made sure the shoot crew were well-looked after.
