In the heart of Scotland’s Ayrshire, Burns Castle Estate awaits with exquisite backdrops and exciting shoot opportunities.

This very special farm location offers two stone castles within its grounds; one is an old 15th century castle ruin and the second, which is the larger of the two, was built in 1790 and is now empty and in disrepair. Available for shoots both inside and out, these historic masterpieces make very impressive photo shoot or film sets.

A number of further isolated and derelict buildings are scattered across the estate including former residential properties, old stone farm buildings and stables. A working farmyard is located a short drive from the castles, where a selection of traditional farm buildings and steadings sit behind the original farmhouse. Modern industrial aspects can also be offered here on the farm with its large newly built stores and barns, forming part of an on-site meat processing unit.

The landscape is mainly productive farmland stretching across the valley, producing wheat, barley, beans and potatoes. There is plenty of mature woodland and pastoral grassland too within the estate’s 1,000 acres, some of which features meandering waterways and tranquil ‘wild’ spots.

FACILITIES AT THE FARM ESTATE

Access to the farm is straightforward with no restrictions. There is ample parking for crew vehicles and an undercover crew base can be provided in one of the barns or sheds. There are no toilet or kitchen facilities onsite.

A network of recommended local businesses can cater for crew and can be arranged if required. Five large self-catering properties (can sleep around 40 people dependant on room configurations) are located only 15 minutes from the estate.

GETTING TO BURNS CASTLE ESTATE

Trains run direct from London Euston to Glasgow Central. The estate is just over 1 hour drive from Glasgow Central. Alternatively, a rail change can be made at Glasgow to Girvan station. Burns Castle Estate is just over a 10 minute drive from Girvan train station.

A flight can also be taken from London airports to Glasgow airport. The estate is approximately 1 hour 10 minutes from Glasgow airport.

Burns Castle Estate is approximately a 2 hours drive from the border with England.
